Summary: We live in a high humidity environment, so I prefer stainless steel hardware and fasteners, even for indoor projects.Pros: Good fit amp; finish; stainless steel material; sharp teeth; arrives in reusable/resealable container.Cons: None. Conclusion: At $29 for 100, $0.29/each, that is better priced than similar offerings (most offerings are for 25 packs at $10-15), so rating this one 5-stars.
These are indeed 304 stainless steel, and the points are sharp. They would probably work, but the threading is wrong. I tried to insert a 10-32 bolt, and it would NOT thread. The only way I could thread in a 10-32 screw is if I chased the threads with my own 10-32 tap. I don't use many 10-24 screws, so I don't keep any in stock. However, I tested the threads with both a thread pitch gauge (I only have metric, and not SAE pitch gauges) and a 10-24 tap. The 10-24 tap fit perfectly in these threads, and the closest metric pitch gauge I could find to these threads is 1.00mm, which is close to 24TPI. I don't know where the error occurred, but I definitely received 10-24 threaded nuts and NOT 10-32 as the listing states. I am not sure if the other reviewer who rated these positively got a different batch (that was threaded correctly with 10-32), or if he just didn't test his nuts with 10-32 screws. Note that in the photos it's a bit hard to see the thread pitch gauge correctly -- I did my best, but it's hard to capture on camera.I'm not bothering to post measurements of these fasteners, as they can't even get the thread count right. I have overall been quite disappointed with this "SNUG FASTENERS" brand. I have received quite a few of their products for review, and only ONE of them has so far met exactly the listing specifications for material composition and dimensional tolerances! I would not trust this brand in the future. They seem to be a US-based importer of cheap asian mass-produced goods. They are based in TN and seem to import and re-package a bunch of cheap asian goods -- they also seem to operate under the names: BC Precision; SEIDO Sharpeners; BCP Fasteners; VOLV Precision; Zensation. If they show the same care and QC for their other brands as they do for "SNUG FASTENERS", I would avoid them all.
I had a cabinet repair project that I was going to used dowels and glue to fix, but thought it maight be better to use a threaded fitting. So, when these became available, I ordered them. Here is what I found:1. First, these are NOT the size they claim to be!!! They are actually 10-24 threads which is not a common size.2. The actual connector themselves are ok, but the tips are not sharp. If you are putting these into hardwood, you will need a mallet to set them before you use them!!!3. For a product to be sent out with a label like this either points to poor quality control, and I do not care attitude, or both.I would NOT recommend this product because you will never know what you are going to get.
